a safe place to find refuge, shelter, healing and hope
About the Acacia Tree
The acacia tree is a symbol of refuge, protection, adaptability, growth, healing, and beauty. The tree is sturdy and provides a canopy of protection and refuge for anyone escaping the intensity of the sun. The acacia tree can adapt to harsh conditions of drought where water sources are scarce. Its roots go deep so that it can find water and nutrients to sustain growth amid arid landscapes. Every part of the tree is useful. Its fibers promote good bacteria used for healing agents, its flowers are used to create perfume, its wood is strong and durable. In addition, the tree is so adaptable that thousands of acacia tree species have developed and are now found on every continent.
Why the name Acacia Tree Counseling?
In my early 20s I was given a word of encouragement, which at the time had limited meaning, but today has real significance. I was likened to a tree that provides shade and shelter for those who are going through difficult times in their life. The words spoken to me at that time said that I would be a place of shelter and comfort where healing and hope could be found. At the time, I did not know what it meant. However, as I have journeyed through deserts and wildernesses, so to speak, I found myself gravitating towards seeking understanding and healing for a broader purpose than personal gain. I longed to be a safe place for others to find refuge, protection, healing, and hope. My personal journey brought me to the field of counseling, and it is with deep conviction and passion that I serve my clients. The name Acacia Tree is fitting because of its unique characteristics, but also because it is found on every continent. Being a global nomad myself, my passion is to offer services to cross-cultural workers who are in need of shelter from the storms of life.
